Plan a smoother move to cloud tools

A useful migration begins with accounts, data, access, and timing. The goal is to help people keep working through the change.

01

Map the starting point

Record current email, domains, file locations, user accounts, licenses, and important applications. Find out who controls the domain and who can approve changes.

02

Agree on the destination

Choose the applications and subscriptions appropriate to the work. Decide how files will be organized and which groups need access before moving the content.

03

Check data and dependencies

Identify shared mailboxes, calendars, large files, application integrations, and unsupported formats. Plan for anything that needs manual handling or specialist vendor help.

04

Prepare a backup and a change window

Discuss backup protection, communication to users, and a suitable time for the move. Define the checks needed before switching daily work to the new environment.

05

Test with real work

Use a small agreed set of accounts or files to confirm sign-in, permissions, and common tasks. Test from the devices people will actually use.

06

Hand over ownership

Document administrator responsibilities, licensing, and support contacts. Help users understand the new workflow and identify follow-up issues early.
